Silkeborg Højskole is a free haven where you can think for yourself and have the time and space to get to know each other really well and bring out the best in one another. The folk high school is a school without any exams. You join the school to learn and get wiser but you do it because you really want to. You get hooked and carried away. Driven by curiosity and the desire to learn, the folk high school paves the way for personal development, professional clarification and helps prepare for specific studies.
Silkeborg Højskole is a classical Danish folk high school that provides the setting every year for studies, activities and experiences for hundreds of young people from Denmark and the rest of the world. Every spring and autumn, the school is filled with young people who lose themselves in professional challenges over a period of four, six or eight months. The main subjects (Politics, Music, Arts, Outdoor life, Development Countries studies, Sports and water sports, and the international ‘Youth Empowerment’ class) take the students through social, cultural and political issues. Combined with other subjects such as literature, philosophy, sociology, religion, anthropology, ecology and thirty other creative, musical, sports and outdoor classes to choose from, students prepare for the many facets of life and the world.
